Historic Real Estate in Green Bay Wis.
Green Bay is a city rich in history, it’s home to more than 50 historical buildings spread throughout the city. Some buildings were constructed by architectural firms in the early 1900’s, some by people who used them as their personal living quarters far before that (as far back as 1838) Here is a list of some of the most historic areas in Green Bay:
Astor Historic District
The Astor Historic District is made up of what was once the Town of Astor, founded in 1835, the Town of Astor and the Town of Navarino merged to form what is now the City of Green Bay.
John Baeten Store
John Baeten sold groceries and other merchandise out of the building starting in 1903, The family maintained ownership of the store until the 1970s, More recently, two commercial businesses have been in operation on the first floor, while the second floor has continued to be used for apartments.
Baird Law Office
Built in the 1830s, The small one-story building measures just 16 x 30 feet (9.1 m) in size and served historically as a professional building.
Broadway-Dousman Historic District
The Broadway-Dousman Historic District is located in Green Bay Wisconsin, It was added to both the State and the national registry in 1999.
Broadway-Walnut Historic District
Commercial district of 20 structures built 1879-1947; Original businesses include dry-goods retail, warehouses, saloons, a news depot, bank, and a dance hall.
Brown County Courthouse
Three-story beaux-arts courthouse with copper-clad dome, designed by Charles Bell and built 1908 to 1911.
Joel S. Fisk House
built from 1862 to 1867. Fisk was a lawyer, postmaster, and Register of the local land office, ran a fishing operation, and platted the city of Fort Howard.
The Meyer Theatre is a historic theater located in Green Bay, Originally known as the Fox Theatre, the building was constructed in 1929 in the Art Deco and Spanish Colonial styles. Its opening on February 14, 1930,
Hotel Northland
The Hotel Northland opened on March 21, 1924 as the largest hotel in Wisconsin. Away teams playing against the Green Bay Packers would stay here and it is one of the stops on the Packers Heritage Trail.
